“War on terrorism” abuses

Wear my ACLU tee-shirt tomorrow, September 11, 2011!

I will wear my ACLU shirt on the 10th anniversary of the 9-11 attacks. This is a statement against the abuses that the 9-11 excuse have brought. The September 11th attacks mark not just a horrible attack, but the real onslaught against our freedom, liberties and human rights. It also marked an onslaught against the human rights instruments and institutions Europe built after WWII to protect individuals against government abuses. While the September 11 is a National Day of Service and Remembrance - it should also be an International Day for the Fight for Human Rights.

De politie machtsmisbruik in New York met CIA

nypd

Verrassing!

The Dutch government’s hypocritical statement on “gagging Wilders.”

In Engles

Today, the Dutch government placed a statement on its English website (without a page) claiming that it will not "gag Wilders" and that the Netherlands "enjoys freedom of expression and attaches great value to it." RUBBISH! If a Muslim, especially a pious follower of Islam, tried to "enjoy freedom of expression" as non-Muslims do -- he would be branded a "radical" for doing so - and might be subjected to so-called "Personal Disruption Measures." This statement is the height of hypocrisy given the Number One threat to the Dutch democratic order continues to be the PVV "political party" and Geert Wilders, who also continues to associate himself with American based hate groups. PART ONE: The statement on the Dutch government's website and the hypocrisy of for Dutch Muslims. PART TWO: Geert Wilders and his PVV "political party" as an exceptional to AIVD "Tasks" and no concern about US radical right hate groups Wilders associates with.

Questioning Dutch and American uses of Muslim “Radicalization”

tristan

The dubious use of the term "radicalization" is in practice on both sides of the Atlantic. In the McCarthy style, King hearings, "radicalization" was abused to demonized Islamic beliefs and practices. However - the Dutch have defined "radicalization" in ways that seek to criminalize strong Islamic beliefs and non-violent Islamic proselytizing, as well as frustrations of discriminated and socially excluded Muslim youth. As part of a research project into Dutch counter-terrorism practices and policies, I have found NO evidence of "jihad in the Netherlands," only dubious definitions of "radicalization" that serve to inflate the non-existent threat from Islam and serve as social control of Dutch Muslims. Also what is terrorism and what is not terrorism in the Netherlands appears to be based only on religious background of the perpetrator.

RIGHT about the WRONG and dangerous directions of “counter-terrorism” practice

Kevin Harpham01

The past few months have produced reports that further my belief that Western counter-terrorism policy and practice is obsessed and focused in the wrong direction of chasing the ghosts of "Islamists and jihadists" (as they are in the Netherlands), while the investigations and actions against right wing radicals and extremists have been gutted at the DHS. At the same time, another study shows the unregulated industry of "counter-terrorism training" is teaching our police and security to use Islamophobic stereotypes in "finding and stopping terrorists." I was RIGHT about the WRONG and dangerous direction of "counter-terrorism" - and the overemphasis and obsession on "Islamist terrorism" has allowed right wing radicals and extremists free hand to plot and carry out attacks against other Americans, including police officers, but also Muslim communities, as well as other hated groups of Americans.
