MH17 Ramp: Zijn de Nederlanders reageren op de gebruikelijke zelfvernietigend mode?

Nederland na de MH17 luchtramp is niet nieuw. De Trauma Drama reactie van het Nederlandse volk is goed gedocumenteerd in Ron Eyerman's 2008 boek, The Assassination of Theo van Gogh (Duke U. Press). Met de uitgebreide parade van lijkwagens langs de snelweg met de doodskisten van MH17 slachtoffers, zijn we weer zien van de Nederlandse Trauma Drama. Nederlandse Trauma Drama. Eyerman casus ging over de reactie van de Nederlandse na de moord op filmmaker Theo van Gogh op een straat in Amsterdam. Het uiteindelijke resultaat van de ramp MH17 op de Nederlandse samenleving is nog niet bekend te worden, maar de Nederlanders hebben de neiging om op een manier die zijn zelf-destructief en contraproductief om te reageren.

Protesten in Amsterdam na de moord op Theo van Gogh. Deze foto links is een protest om de moord, die ook gewelddadige aanvallen op moskeeën en mensen gezien als moslims. De effecten op de Nederlandse samenleving onder meer verhoogd spionage en etikettering door de Nederlandse veiligheidsdiensten op moslims en islamitische instellingen. We hebben gezien met de nasleep van de ramp MH17 doodskisten paradeerden op de snelwegen. De Nederlanders hebben een zeer dramatische wijze van reageren op gepercipieerde nationale tragedies, waaronder verandering van de cultuur door precieved nationale tragedies.Van de lucht rampen deze week - waar hebben de andere landen van de slachtoffers had een optocht van lijkwagens met doodskisten voor burgers (vele niet-burgers) van een lucht-ramp?


De trauma's van nationale tragedies en contraproductief reacties. NO - Nederlandse militaire missie naar Oekraïne, zegt Heer Rutte! Het beste wat Heer Rutte heeft tot nu toe gezegd! Vrede - en vrede is de enige manier om de slachtoffers naar huis te brengen. We konden nog eisen voor de oorlog uit een emotioneel aangewakkerd Nederlandse publiek. Eerste, massamedia lijken een rol te spelen en dat omvat het leiden van de emotionele Nederlandse mensen rond door de neus, spelen met hun emoties. Na de moord of "Theo" zagen we Nederlanders die volgen de islam het onderwerp van intense AIVD spionage en etikettering gemaakt. We zagen ook de notie dat "allochtoon" en "Nederlands" als elkaar uitsluitende, waar een "allochtoon" burger van Nederland niet is toegestaan ​​om te beweren dat ze echt zijn "Nederlands." De contraproductieve reacties zien nu uit getraumatiseerde Nederlandse samenleving zijn oproepen voor militaire interventie en oproepen voor Nederland om "man up to Russia."

 Het is voorspelbaar dat onschuldige mensen gestraft zullen worden (de daders), zoals Russen die in Nederland wonen. "Manning tot Rusland" inderdaad!

  Wat moet Nederland aan de man -up is de invasie van de buitenlandse ideologie van Anglo-Amerikaanse conservatisme, die nu heeft gemanifesteerd in een aantal van haar maatschappelijke instituties.

 Wat is gebruikelijk over Nederlandse Drama Trauma:
  1.  Het bestaan ​​van een discours en narratieve voor het trauma eveneme
  2. uitgebreide ceremonies, begrafenissen, processies;
  3. collectieve bestraffing, zowel officiële als maatschappelijke, tegen de dader (dader) groep, ex. Linksen en moslims;
  4. onnodige beveiliging en andere beleidsreacties vertakkingen;
  5.  massamedia rol in het sturen en het aanwakkeren van emoties;
  6.  corrosieve effecten op de Nederlandse samenleving.
 Er moet een aantal "manning up" naar de Anglo-Amerikaanse conservatieve kliek die nu gekaapt Nederlandse samenleving en cultuur - en nu van plan om de MH17 tragedie misbruiken om misschien ondermijnen Nederlandse internationale betrekkingen met Rusland. De Nederlanders moeten de internationale handel met Rusland te onderhouden: Kapitalistische vrede echt werkt en de Nederlanders hebben dit aangetoond met zijn 400 jaar handelsrelaties met de Turken. De Nederlanders zijn actief in de internationale handel voor eeuwen - en het is tijd voor Nederland om de mens over de vreemde ideologie die is het vernietigen van de oude stoffen van de Nederlandse samenleving.

Case studies in orde zijn voor elke Nederlandse nationale trauma evenement terug naar 1977 treinkaping. Ze hoeven niet te worden gebaseerd op Eyerman's werk, maar kan ons de soortgelijke discoursen, gedemoniseerde groepen en hoe media-aandacht weegt op Nederlandse discours over nationale tragedies.

Another free speech trial in the Netherlands: Joke Kaviaar


Free Speech for Geert Wilders but not Joke. We now see the start of a "criminal trial" in the Netherlands against Joke Kaviaar - an anarchist and activist against the nature and manner of Dutch immigration policy. This young lady is an activist for refugees and for open boarders. She is on trial for what she said on her blog and has been told that so as long as certain posts remain up - she is "inciting" and "violating the law!"

Keep in mind that the Netherlands claims to be an international advocate for free speech on the Internet in its foreign policy. And - as I have argued in the past this is a double standard, as the Netherlands is all in favor of "free speech" for Iranians, Chinese and the extreme and radical right - while the Netherlands is working to criminalize speech from the far-left, the vast majority are non-violent speakers like Joke. We have also seen people punished for speech that is taken as "threatening Wilders"when it actually is an anti-Wilders protest speech.

As I have also argued there are double standards when it comes to "protected speech." As this article from Krapuul points out, people have made threats against political opponents, yet no arrests. This is double standard is present on both sides of the Atlantic. While the radical, anti-Muslim right talks about killing Muslims, blowing up mosques and executing political opponents - Joke Kaviaar is arrested for speaking out against the brutal Dutch immigration policies. We now see that anti-immigrant policies have now taken to political persecution of activists as "threats." Nowhere do we see that pro-immigration activist present some kind of terrorist or violent threat against national security and public safety. 

I have been putting off my best work in research and writing about the darkness that is now enveloping the Netherlands, much of this darkness a result of about two decades of pounding the country's national identity by American-lead, conservative interests. I have spent about six-months wrapped up in Dutch history, in an effort to build a most detailed national identity study, and what I've found was that the Dutch had build for themselves a nation of real peace and inclusion, especially for Catholics and religious minorities. I have also seen evidence of Anglo-American Conservative activism and this can been seen in the pages of the British Contemporary Review and the National Review


If you, dear reader, seriously think that the writings of an anarchist are "incitement" - the Dutch government has not yet seen what I will be doing in the future - as I am not just some Leftist political hack and have a substantial educational and academic background in national security, national identity studies, international security, counter-terrorism and analysis. The General Security and Intelligence Agency,  whose writings I've been reading for quite some time (2 years), the subject to discourse analysis as the first order of business. 
If the Dutch government thinks it can intimidate people -- lol -- I'm not at all intimidated.

I'm not an anarchist (I don't belong to the Tea Party)  - but I have been writing for years abut the militarist activities of Frontex, Fortress Europe -- and believe that people should be able to live where they want, visa permits and residency regulations be damned!  My main study area a few years ago was European foreign policy and I was especially interested in the activities of Frontex. I have the education and expertise to write on the topic that Joke advocates from a social scientific and critical perspective, but I've been a bit lazy about it. No more - the war starts in earnest today!


 The Dutch people need to <opstaan> just as they did against the Nazis, French and the Habsburg Spanish and now the PVV-VVD regime funded by David Horowitz! "Freedom of speech" is, apparently, just for Geert Wilders and PVVers - and this tread follows the trend on the Western side of the Atlantic - of the "red raids" by the FBI against socialist, social democratic and animal rights groups. Out in Washington state, animal rights activists have been jailed for minor property damage crimes amounting to misdemeanors. These "red raid" especially occurred in the aftermath of the Summer 2010 US Supreme Court decision expanding so-called "material support for terrorism" into areas that are actually not material support for terrorism, like speech. We have seen people and bloggers prosecuted for writing nice things about HAMAS - yet we have Americans who have written fan mail to Anders Breivik and of course, those people who inspired the Norway terrorist, like Robert Spencer, have yet to be charged with "material support for terrorism" for all the inspiration he gave Breivik. 

The truth is that our counter-terrorism and security institutions do not protect us from real threats  because they are actually charged with political policing are harassing people that actually do not pose a threat, whicle the real threats are allowed to fester.

I can't wait to publish and eat the lunch of the AIVD, the Openbaar Ministerie, and the VVDers. Let's see them come and get me...I'm no anarchist writer ... and I'll eat their lunch, which will taste quite good too!

Vrijheid van meningsuiting strafproces in Nederland: Joke Kaviaar

Vrijheid van meningsuiting voor Geert Wilders, maar niet Joke. We zien nu de start van een andere "strafrechtelijk proces" in Nederland tegen Joke Kaviaar - een anarchist en activist tegen de aard en de wijze van het Nederlandse immigratiebeleid. Deze jonge vrouw is een activist voor vluchtelingen en voor open grenzen. Ze staat terecht voor wat ze zei op haar blog en heeft te horen gekregen dat dus zo lang als sommige berichten blijven up - "het overtreden van de wet is ze" aanzetten tot "en ! "

Houd er rekening mee dat Nederland beweert te zijn een pleitbezorger voor de vrijheid van meningsuiting op het internet . En - zoals ik argeud in het verleden is dit een dubbele standaard, als Nederland is een groot voorstander van "vrijheid van meningsuiting" voor Iraniërs, Chinezen en de extreme en radicale rechts - werkt Nederland om spraak te criminaliseren van de extreem-linkse, de overgrote meerderheid zijn niet-gewelddadige sprekers als Joke. We hebben ook gezien dat mensen gestraft worden voor spraak die wordt genomen als "bedreigen Wilders."

Zoals ik heb ook betoogd er met twee maten als het gaat om "beschermde meningsuiting." Aangezien dit artikel van Krapuul wijst erop , hebben mensen veroorzaakte bedreigingen tegen politieke tegenstanders, nog geen arrestaties. Dit is dubbele standaard aanwezig is aan beide zijden van de Atlantische Oceaan. Terwijl de radicale, anti-moslim recht spreekt over het doden van moslims, het opblazen van moskeeën en uitvoeren van politieke tegenstanders -. Het Nederlandse volk moet <opstaan> net zoals ze deden tegen de nazi's, de Franse en de Habsburgse Spaanse en nu de PVV-VVD-regime gefinancierd door David Horowitz! "Vrijheid van meningsuiting" is blijkbaar alleen voor Geert Wilders en PVVers - en dit loopvlak volgt de trend aan de westelijke kant van de Atlantische Oceaan - van de "rode invallen" door de FBI tegen socialistische, sociaal-democratische en de rechten van dieren groepen. Out in de staat Washington, hebben de rechten van dieren activisten zijn gevangen gezet voor geringe materiële schade misdaden ten bedrage van misdrijven. Deze "rode raid" vooral voorgedaan in de nasleep van de zomer van 2010 US Supreme Court beslissing uit te breiden zogenaamde "materiële steun aan terrorisme" in gebieden die eigenlijk niet materiële steun aan terrorisme, zoals spraak. We hebben gezien dat mensen en bloggers vervolgd voor het schrijven van leuke dingen over Hamas - toch hebben we Amerikanen die fanmail geschreven Anders Breivik en natuurlijk, de mensen die inspireerde de Noorwegen terrorist, als Robert Spencer, moeten nog worden belast met "materiaal ondersteuning van terrorisme "voor alle inspiratie die hij gaf Breivik.

De waarheid is dat onze strijd tegen het terrorisme en veiligheid instellingen niet ons te beschermen tegen echte bedreigingen, omdat ze in feite belast met politieke politie zijn lastig mensen die eigenlijk niet een bedreiging, whicle de echte bedreigingen mogen etteren.

Ik kan niet wachten om te publiceren en te eten van de lunch van de AIVD, het Openbaar Ministerie, en de VVDers. Laten we eens kijken ze me komen halen ... Ik ben geen anarchist schrijver ... en ik zal eten hun lunch, die ook zal smaken heel goed!

Geert brings Hank and Ingrid to roost in America.

I have always advocated keeping Geert Wilders out of our country. In fact, Wilders should be keep out of all civilized and democratic countries for the sake of internal security. Since about 2009, Wilders has been making frequent trips to the US and Canada for "speaking engagements" , and this includes at the site of the World Trade Center, where on September 11, 2010, Wilders gave yet another Islamophobic hate speech. At this time, the new Dutch government had not been seated from the June election results. At that time also, the "Ground Zero mosque" (called the "Victory Mosque" by Wilders) issue was ignited and Geert Wilders was brought over by Pamela Geller and her hateful associates. Also following Wilders to New York was the Dutch newsmedia and the view of tying this trip and hate speech to a new cabinet and governemnt was repugnant and shameful!

Beating up Muslims in the streets in the Netherlands and America. The far and wide coverage of Wilders' travels and hatespeeches may be causing a spike in anti-Muslim hate crimes in especially the US.

Henk and Ingrid, Mr. and Mrs Dutch (sic), was a creation of Wilders to further his campaign of hate against especially Muslims and Moroccans. This last July, a real life Henk and Ingrid in the town of Almelo beat an elderly Turkish neighbor on the street. Aziz Kara eventually died of his head injuries. The shock of this murder also rippled through the Tweede Kamer (House) election campaign and was one of the factors that thankfully set back Wilders.
Let us hope that the Dutch people can wake up and see that Geert Wilders is not "patriotic" and that this type of speech is unacceptable and dangerous to society.  Wilders is actually anti-Dutch and opposed to his own country's proud history of religious tolerance just as much as Pim Fortuyn was. Like Fortuyn, Wilders promotes and advocates for hate of other Dutch people based on their religious faith, which is contrary to what the Dutch nation actually stands for!

In New York we have  Muslim men almost killed on the street after being asked if they were Muslim. In August 2010, about two weeks before Wilders hatespeech in New York, a cab driver  was viciously slashed and stabbed by a passenger after he was asked if he was Muslim.   On November 24 of this year, a 72-year-old grandfather almost ended up like Aziz Kara, beaten almost to death in the streets of Queens, New York. The men savagely beat this well-liked grandfather after he answered that he was, indeed, a Muslim. This follows the stabbing of another man outside of a Queens mosque on November 19. The victim was called anti-Muslim slurs as he was being punched and stabbed.  Some are willing to act based upon their hate of Muslims, like hate that is promoted by Geert Wilders.

 Rather than be a great shame for the Dutch people, rather than spit on the grave of William of Orange, rather than a sledgehammer to the great nation the Dutch people have built for 450 years - suffered, shed blood and died for - Geert Wilders's "Victory Mosque" hatespeech on September 11, 2010 was viewed as some sort of statement on a new Dutch government in 2010 (especially the second video) by the Dutch newsmedia. This was repugnant and every patriotic Dutchman should have been upset!

Anti-Muslim "free speech" and spike of anti-Muslim hate crimes.  This situation has been further aggravated by Wilders' acquittal on hate speech charges last year. Hate speech has consequences and one of these consequences is that some people will act on hateful messages partly promoted by Geert Wilders' trips to the US since 2009. According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, anti-Muslim hate crimes in 2010 were 50% higher than than the previous year - and the SPLC cites the hate built up around the "Ground Zero mosque" protest, which Geert Wilders as a key speaker at.  As Hansdeep Singh and Simran Jeet Singh at the Daily Beast point out - these attacks have not declined a decade after the 9-11 attacks - but have gone up - and I would contend, especially after 2009, the year that Geert Wilders began most of his trips to North America (emphasis mine):
 For example, from 2005 to 2010, hate crimes motivated by religious bias show a consistent upward trajectory—whereas hate crimes against religious communities constituted 17.1 percent of all bias-based crimes in 2005, that number has reached 20 percent in the most recent report published in 2010. This is the highest rate of hate crimes motivated by religious bias in the 18 years since the FBI started tracking hate crimes nationwide in 1992.

Furthermore, while one might assume that the pattern of anti-Muslim violence would have decreased a decade after the terrorist attacks of 9/11, official statistics show that hate crimes against Muslims are at their highest levels since 2001. The most recent FBI data indicates that in a one-year period, from 2009 to 2010, there was a staggering 42 percent increase in hate crimes against Muslims in this country.
Here's what we should do: Send the 72 year-old grandfather's medical bills (and the medical bills of other hate crime victims) to the Dutch government. In the future, send the Dutch government your medical bills, property damage bills and other expenses that are probably a result of allowing Geert Wilders to travel about teaching people to hate Muslims in North America. The spike in hate crimes against Muslims appears to coincide with both the "Victory Mosque" hate campaign and Geert Wilders' own travels to North America. This problem was created in the Netherlands long before the September 11, 2001 attacks (Rotterdam, 1991), fueled today by the anti-Muslim counter-terrorism industry - and somewhere along the line a message needs to be sent to the Dutch governemnt that it is their responsibility to clean up this mess!  Take this hateful poison back to Rotterdam - where it came from!

The Dutch Revolt as the defense of ‘liberties’ and ‘privileges'



 The Dutch Revolt against Habsburg Spain was actually a revolt against religious oppression and to safeguard the religious consciences of the Dutch people. The Revolt was also a struggle for the preservation of  ‘liberties’ and ‘privileges' based in the Burgundian era (1384 to 1482) that were viewed in constitution-like terms.  The great humanist Hugo Grotius believed that the old constitution of Holland was traceable to the old Batavian Republic and its resistance against the Romans in its struggles to become “a free republic, by a people of free origin" (Schama 1988 68, 69). The Revolt has meaning in both Belgium and the Netherlands as a nationalist event in terms of a revolt for national independence. The Revolt also serves the function of a national, unifying myth for both nations as significant as the Second World War (van Gelderen 2001, Nierop 2002, 30). 

National symbols of the Netherlands began to emerge in the course of the Revolt. Simon Schama (1988) tells us that the great sieges of the 1570s gave rise to their expression on coins and medals and formed the first signs of Dutch national identity. In 1573 the lion rampant held within an enclosed stockade was elevated to a patriotic symbol (69).  Benjamin Kaplan (2002) describes how propaganda pamphlets of the Dutch Revolt took on the theme of Netherlanders "as exceptional lovers and advocates of their liberty and enemies of all violence and oppression" along the lines of religious liberty (179).

The effects of the Reformation and growing religious troubles in the Low Countries. The persecutions of Protestants began in the Low Countries in 1525 under Habsburg Spanish emperor, Charles V, and the first heretic was burned in Friesland in 1530. Besides the enormous influence of Luther on the Low Countries before 1520, the Christian humanism of Desiderius Erasmus was firmly established in culture, education, religion and civic government starting in about 1490 (Israel 1998, 83, 79, 47).  The “rising,” or opstand, of mainly Holland and Zeeland was, according to Gordon Griffiths (1960), favored by a minority of Calvinists, but a majority of town magistrates held Erasmian views on religious matters and had no sympathies with the Calvinist-leaning, Sea Beggars who appeared to threaten the established order (455-456).

This problem of growing religious agitation in the Netherlands was a serious concern for Charles V who warned his son, Philip II, to be especially vigilant in the Netherlands, as it could play a role in future conflicts with France. No matter the costs, the patrimonial lands and inherited kingdoms were not to be yielded to heretics or infidels and the Catholic faith must be defended from foreign attack or internal subversion   (Gonzalez de Leon and Parker 2001, 106, 109, 110). After his visit to Low Countries, Philip sensed that the States General, a creation of the Burgundian Dukes to foster unity of the provinces, was a threat to royal power by forming a type of parliamentary government (van Gelderen 2008, x)

By 1559, the effects Protestant mentality were in the air, undermining the Catholic Church, while Dutch Calvinism was still in its infancy. The papal bull in the same year was aimed at reorganizing the Catholic Church in the Netherlands also gave Philip II the right to appoint bishops.  This plan was vigorously opposed for the fact it excluded local authorities, but intended to strengthen Philip’s grip on the Low Countries. The nobility of the Low Countries were irritated by Philip’s reliance on Cardinal Granvelle for advice and decisions, to the exclusion of the existing intuitions and mechanisms, like the main governmental Council of State (Israel 1998, 83; van Gelderen 2008, xi; Arblaster 2006, 120-121).

The royal rule by the Habsburg Spanish replaced the governance of the provinces with their own leaders.  In the 1550s the nature of royal rule and the actions of inquisitors against Protestants alienated magistrates and nobility. The royal administration headed by Granvelle sought to tick up the anti-heresy program and tighten their administrative and judicial grip over the towns and provinces. In the early 1560s some northerly nobles begin to sympathize and tolerate Protestant activities and preaching. The northern nobels put out calls for compromise and moderation of the Spanish inquisitorial regime, but these calls were rejected (Arblaster 2006, 120; Israel 1998, 141; van Gelderen 2008, xi).

Much of the annoyance that Dutch nobles felt stemmed from the threat to their cherished values of civic unity, public order and ‘old liberty.’  The Revolt was provoked for the protection of liberty, as well as opposition to Spanish tyranny, and with the aim of forming a constitutional framework that protects privileges, freedoms, and old customs through institutions in the States. The privileges of 1477 and the Joyous Entry of Brabant were the instruments for forming political rights and duties. To become lord of the country, a prince had to take an oath and Phillip II took this oath in 1549. With regard to administration of justice, these instruments offered civic rights and protection against arbitrary, corrupt rule. These great charters were the concept for an implied constitution of the country that sought to limit the powers of princes and safeguard Dutch liberty. The charters were the constitutional and legal guarantees of liberty, while the citizens of the Netherlands were viewed as its guardians. The struggles against the Spanish “universal” monarchy became opposed to Dutch political order based on liberty, constitutional charters, representative assemblies and civic virtues. (Griffiths 1960, 453; Darby 2001, 9; van Gelderen 2008, xii; xiii-xiv; van Gelderen 2004, 154-155).

Now God’s word, as well as all rights, privileges, old habits, usages and customs, and all mutual contracts, treaties, and alliances of the Low Countries, validated and confirmed by the Lord of the country and the States, with God’s word and the holy oath, makes it clear that these Netherlands…have never been governed as an absolute monarchy or kingdom.

On the contrary, the country has always been managed and administered, with right and justice through a republican or rational civic policy, in such a way that the lord of the country has been like a servant and professor of the country’s rights, laws and regulations…like a father of the fatherland, whose task it is to serve all, be they poor or rich, noble or common, with equal laws justice and judgment (Michiels 1576, 85).

How the Revolt began to boil over. The constitutional charters also called for resistance against what William of Orange openly called tyrannical rule, from the “tyrant of tyrants,” Philip II. In April 1566, a group of 200 “beggar” nobles forced themselves onto Margaret of Parma and vigorously demanded an end to the anti-heresy placards and Inquisition intuitions. The beggar-nobles asserted that the Inquisition was a trespass on their freedoms and burghers into miserable slaves of the Inquisitors. This Petition of Compromise also contained a thin threat to resort to armed force and rebellion if the compromise was rejected. Margaret gave in and agreed that the anti-heresy placards be suspended until representatives of the States General met with the king in Spain (Israel 1998,145-146).

Further along in the year of 1566, once the Inquisition was halted, was a time of growth of Protestant churches across the Low Countries. Some of the nobility that held sympathy for the Protestants began to cast off their inhibitions and open Protestantizing was seen in several provinces. Open air, “hedge preaching” was attended by thousands as Calvinist preachers living in exile returned to help organize churches and congregations. On an August day in west Flanders, a mob attacked a convent after listening to a Calvinist sermon. From there a wave of Iconoclastic Fury, or beeldenstorm, swept in the form of  gangs that toured the Low Countries and burned Catholic churches, smashed statues, defaced paintings and books. Catholic clergy were assaulted, publicly humiliated and sometimes killed. The civic militias were often unwilling to intervene and stop the violence, but in some instances, militias participated in agitating local authorities to allow space for Protestant worship  (Israel 1998 146-147, 151; Arblaster 2006, 120-121).

Decades of iconoclastic indoctrination by Erasmian humanists and crypto-Protestants in the schools, rhetoric chambers, and taverns of the Low Countries – even in the churches – had done its work. A deep estrangement from the traditional forms of piety had set in decades before, and advanced so far to this point that the country’s vast and ancient fabric of faith …was looked on without veneration by most and hostility by many. Alienation of a society from its own religious culture, of such a scale, was a phenomenon without precedent or parallel (Israel 1998, 148).

Some of the nobles became frightened by the violence and wanted to restore order
but the one who determined to stop anti-catholic heresy was Philip II, who dispatched duke of Alva (sometimes spelled Alba) as the new governor, along with 10,000 Spanish and Italian troops, who traveled along the Spanish Road from Naples, through Switzerland. When Alva arrived in the Brussels in August 1567, the actions that loyalist nobles and Margaret of Parma took had largely reestablished order. Alva was fanatically anti-Protestant and his intention was not to accept the restoration of public order, but to root out those who participated in the beeldenstorm and to drive out anti-Catholic heresy by force and violence (Geyl 1966, 100; Arblaster 2006).

The policies and actions of Habsburg Spanish policy would certainly stir the Dutch into revolt. Upon arrival Alva had two respected counts, Egmond and Hoorn, arrested after a banquet and eventually beheaded before a weeping crowd in Brussels. The two counts remained loyal to Catholic Church, had helped Margaret restore order, and felt they had nothing to fear from their king. Margaret resigned in protest of the new Council of Troubles,  known also as the Council of Blood, which had been set up tom investigate and punish those involved in the Iconoclastic fury. (Israel 156-157, Geyl 1966, 100, 101-103) There were new, forced taxes, like the Tenth Penny, and Alva made it clear that he intended to extract new revenues without obstructions from the States General.  The Tenth Penny tax would seriously erode support for the King and even among the loyalist officials and bishops, who would quietly report back to Madrid that the taxes were eroding support among his Netherlands subjects (Isreal 1998, 167; Arblaster 2006 ). 

Habsburg Spanish brutality and tyrannical occupation. The brutality of Alva’s rule reflected hate of the Dutch people and not so much of anti-Catholic heresy. The Spanish soldier regarded all Dutch, Protestant and Catholic, as heretical scum.  (Boogman  1979, 378;  ). Martian van Gelderen presents in his edited work, The Dutch Revolt (2008) several of the writings of friends and supporters of William of Orange from Germany after they fled the onslaught of Alva’s brutal policies and actions. A considerable amount of ink was given to describing the threatening, miserable lives of the Dutch under Spanish occupation. Marnix van St. Aldegonde (van Gelderen 1993, xv), writing in A Defense and True Declaration, describes a climate where occupying soldiers were out of control, taking out random acts of violence and injustice against citizens, who also bore the burden of having the soldiers quartered in their own homes. The soldiers raided home coffers, ravaged wives and daughters, slaughtered sons, and burned homes and cities. One father was executed for having his son in his house. Another man was executed for sending money to a friend in England. A man was killed for giving food to a widow with four children whose husband was executed for his religious faith. These brutal activities by Alva’s soldiers were also used against “papist” Catholics that remained faithful to the Catholic Church (59-60).
 Thus it is evident that the aforesaid Placards have broken the privileges, rights and laudable customs of the country in many ways, have hurt the welfare of the country, and have caused the miserable and pernicious war.

In addition there are many diverse novelties, such as the establishment of new bishops, the further strengthening of the ecclesiastical jurisdiction, the distinct reaffirmation of the Inquisition, and the power of the Inquisitors.

    Later this has been followed by innumerable other acts of violence and arbitrariness, by which the privileges and sworn rights of the country have been overrun completely. In contravention of all laws of the country, new blood councils, new jurisdictions have been set up. The offices of the country have been handed over to foreigners.

The inhabitants and citizens have been treated in contravention of right and equality, and their goods have been confiscated although they were not confiscable. The country has been burdened by new, unheard-of tributes. Without in any way following the normal procedure…much innocent blood has been shed. Towns and villages were destroyed with heavy and foreign garrisons, unreasonable taxes and various means of violence. And finally they have brought us this miserable and bloody civil war (Michiels 1576, 101-102).

The revolutionary actions of William of Orange and his associates where not intended to replace Catholicism with Calvinism, or to promote a certain religious creed, but to free the Netherlands from Spanish occupation and maintenance of privileges and against royal absolutism. The early charters they lived under, chiefly, the Burgundian privileges of 1477 and the Joyous Entry of Brabant, were viewed as a constitutional framework for the Low Countries (Boogman 1979, 380) The Revolt was a defense of “hearth and home” and a reaction to brutal occupation, and the Dutch felt that they had the right to take up arms to defend themselves. For William of Orange, it was about religious freedom of conscious “in matters of religion.”

The heroes of past times, to their immortal praise, live on in eternal memory by their courage deeds in invading and conquering many countries and town, because they were decisive. Likewise we will earn ourselves a treasure of eternal praise for saving our country and towns, for protecting our wives and children, for standing up for our Privileges, laws, religion and liberty, and for dispelling our enemies from the fields…However, as the shadows follow the body, so honour will never again be separated from the Netherlands.

 We can achieve this very well, if we only follow my advice: that is, to set aside all particular passions for one or the other religion, and, each staying by his religion in his conscience, to resolve ourselves and to join each other by means of the requested oath”  (Jacob Heyndrix, 1582, 223-224). 

The Dutch struggles against Spanish monarchical absolutism would last for 80 years (with the Twelve Year Truce starting in 1609) and resulted, eventually, in recognition of Dutch independence with the Treaty of Westphalia in 1648 (Arblaster 2006, 131).  First of all, the Netherlanders were never governed by a king or royal house, let alone a foreign king with an absolutist governing style bent on preserving the position of the Catholic Church. What the Revolt was not intended to do was to replace Catholicism with Calvinism as a "state religion." Like the American revolution, the Dutch revolt was against an imposing foreign rule. Militant Calvinists would push to make their religion the state religion, even though the majority of the Dutch who revolted against the Spanish were motivated by Erasmus’ humanist Christianity and a desire to restore Burgundian “liberties and privileges." Unlike the English, American, French and Russian, no new political system emerged from the Dutch Revolt, but was a revival of older forms and levels of government. Today, the Dutch parliament still bears the medieval name of Staten Generaal. The southern provinces would be retaken by Spanish armies by 1585 and in the northern provinces of Holland and Zealand the new order would be maintained until the France Revolution (Griffiths 1960, 453-454).

Polish Immigrant Hotline: Why the Netherlands is not the same Netherlands we all loved..

“Just like Pim and Theo.” When it comes to the Netherlands, we are talking about a nation that has made “heroes” out of men who have dedicated their public lives in tearing down Dutch culture and Dutch national identity.  Both “Pim” (Pim Fortuyn) and “Theo” (Theo van Gogh) we regarded as “great Dutch heroes” for attacking Dutch culture – while claiming to “save Dutch culture” from especially  “Muslims” and “immigrants.” These men were made into “heroes” for attacking the Dutch tradition of tolerance and its multicultural society – and are crowned as “free speech heroes” for their attacks on the Dutch culture and national identity.  The much of the Dutch population now regards as “heroes” men who were actually opposed to everything that made the Dutch nation great and admired in the world and among other European nations. This twisted admiration for the anti-Dutch “Pim and Theo” twins is now firmly in place in the country’s national psyche and it will take a great shaking to get the ghosts of “Pim and Theo” to bring the country out of this twisted admiration.

So – expect there to be claims that the PVV and Geert Wilders have “free speech and free expression rights” for putting up such an offensive website.  Expect that the Dutch media, who pandered to “Pim” and Theo” also begin talking bad about Polish and East European immigrants, as, after all, we are “just like Pim and Theo  as we sit here on Dutch television talking bad about Muslims, allochtoon and, now, East Europeans.”  Sitting on TV and trying to be “like Pim and Theo” is still an admired thing to do in the Netherlands, sad to say. The reality that the Dutch people MUST LEARN is that “Pim and Theo” are not “heroes,” but villains that destroyed their country’s culture and national identity. The two anti-Dutch Dutchmen helped to bring about Wilders and the current, unruly leadership that believes that tolerance is “bad for Dutch culture” and “say what you think and do what you say” no matter the consequences.

I also knew that the time would come when the Netherlands would make such trouble. Dutch national identity with Wilders walking the halls as “kingmaker,” along with the abandonment of the Dutch and European values, meant that this clash was coming. The Netherlands is no longer a civilized European nation, but a seething cesspool of hate and fear – and thanks to “Pim” - the country is driven by hate and fear.  The Netherlands is a very sick country with a very sick domestic politics, so expect Wilders and the PVV’s polling to get better, sadly.  The Dutch people need to be called to repent for the error of their ways.

Why Wilders could be doing this and what it means for Europe.  In the debate in the European Parliament yesterday, Guy Verhofstadt went over the obvious reasons why Wilders was doing this, the polls that showed the PVV down by seven seats in January, followed by the attacks on Queen Beatrix and her trips to Oman, especially the wearing of the headscarf.  Verhofstadt is probably right, but this is also a dog whistle for Europe’s far right, that is not only xenophobic, but vigorously anti-European Union. This type of crowd subscribes in the crackpot conspiracy theories of the EU being “the new Soviet Union,” as well as the equally crackpot “Eurabia” and “Muslim invasion” conspiracy theories.   Geert Wilders long held ambition is to unite Europe in an aggressive war against the Arab and Muslim Middle East.  We already see moves by the far right to form a Europe-wide organization like that of the English Defense League.

Also – the VVD (Volkspartij voor Vrijheid en Democratie) party can best be described as a Thatcherite and American-type Tea Party – and this party is following the lead of Iron Lady Thatcher in attacks on the EU and European values.  Look and see that the majority of hate mongers and trouble-makers came out of the VVD party.  The list includes Geert Wilders, Pim Fortuyn, but also Frits Bolkestein, the originator of anti-Muslim and xenophobic trouble in the early 1990s.

Good for the European Parliament! It’s about time that EU institutions, like the European Parliament, go after renegade Member States under the influence of the far right.  When a nation is an EU candidate status, there is incentive and interest to modify the national behavior, but once the nation is in the EU as a Member State, those incentives disappear.  There is little beyond infringement proceedings from the Commission to sanction a Member State.  More need to be done to stop Geert Wilders and his ilk from undermining peace, tolerance and security in Europe. It is right for MEPs to want standards for the money given to political parties and groups. There should be standards that require political parties respect human rights and not actually promote intolerance and hate by giving money to far right parties.

Nation building is not just for the physical rebuilding of war-torn countries or nations working to obtain that EU Accession treaty. Nation building is about the changing and maintaining national identities of nations, for good or bad. Nation building is a continued process and for old as well as new EU Member States it must be about the maintenance of a Europe-orientation of the Member State's national identity.  This means that the EU must become involved in Member States' promotion of European values and goals of the European project, not just legal enforcements of directives, but the maintenance of social cohesion through the promotion of tolerance and human rights for all in Europe. The European Union does not continuously build positive, Europe-orientated national identities of the Member States, and this is something the Union needs to do.

It’s quite sad to see the once great Dutch nation continue in the horrible legacy of Pim Fortuyn and Theo van Gogh. These men worked to tear down their own nation and caused a loss of collective Dutch identity, as well as setting up the state of sad political affairs of today. However – it is good that at least one European institution has stepped up to combat the far right. It is fitting that this push back starts with Geert Wilders and the PVV, the most dangerous of the far right. Geert Wilders need to have his Europe-wide political wings clipped- and this clipping starts here.  In clipping Wilders’ political wings, we can save the Dutch people from themselves…we are doing it for them too.

The Dutch nation needs to be rebuilt and this involves first realizing that the Netherlands no longer has a Europe orientation. The Netherlands may be an EU Member State, but it is no longer a European nation (it is more like an American neocon nation), but the nation can and must be rebuilt with its former identity.

Deze vorm van publiek onderschrijft in de bizarre complottheorieën van de EU als "de nieuwe Sovjet-Unie," en de al even gek "Eurabia" en "islamitische invasie" complot theorieën. Geert Wilders lang gekoesterde ambitie is om Europa te verenigen in een agressieve oorlog tegen de Arabische en islamitische Midden-Oosten. We hebben al zien stappen van extreem-rechts om een ​​pan-Europese organisatie op te richten, zoals die van het English Defense League.

Wanneer een natie is een EU-kandidaat-status, is er stimulans en belang voor de nationale gedrag te wijzigen, maar zodra de natie is in de EU als een lidstaat, die prikkels verdwijnen. Er is weinig verder dan een inbreukprocedure van de Commissie aan sanctie een lidstaat. Meer moet worden gedaan om Geert Wilders en de zijnen te stoppen ondermijnen vrede, verdraagzaamheid en veiligheid in Europa. Het is goed dat leden van het EP te willen normen voor het geld gegeven aan de politieke partijen en groeperingen. Er moeten normen die de politieke partijen ten aanzien van de mensenrechten nodig hebben en eigenlijk niet te bevorderen intolerantie en haat door het geven van geld aan extreem-rechtse partijen.

De natiegebouw is niet alleen voor de fysieke wederopbouw van door oorlog verscheurde landen of landen werken aan dat het EU-toetredingsverdrag te verkrijgen. Nation building is over de veranderende en onderhouden van nationale identiteit van volkeren, ten goede of ten slechte. Nation building is een voortdurend proces en voor oude en nieuwe lidstaten van de EU moet het over het onderhoud van een Europa-oriëntatie van de lidstaat dat de identiteit. Dit betekent dat de EU moet worden betrokken bij de lidstaten bevordering van Europese waarden en doelstellingen van het Europese project, en niet alleen juridische versterkingen van de richtlijnen, maar het behoud van sociale cohesie door het bevorderen van tolerantie en mensenrechten voor iedereen in Europa. De Europese Unie wil niet continu opbouwen positief, Europa-georiënteerde nationale identiteit van de lidstaten, en dit is iets wat de Europese Unie moet doen.

Het is heel triest om te zien de eens zo grote Nederlandse natie voort te zetten in de verschrikkelijke erfenis van Pim Fortuyn en Theo van Gogh. Deze mannen werkten af te breken hun eigen land en veroorzaakte een verlies van de collectieve Nederlandse identiteit, maar ook het opzetten van de toestand van de trieste politieke zaken van vandaag. Maar - het is goed dat minstens een andere Europese instelling heeft opgevoerd om uiterst rechts te bestrijden. Het is passend dat deze push terug begint met Geert Wilders en de PVV, de meest gevaarlijke van extreem-rechts. Geert Wilders moet om zijn pan-Europese politieke vleugels geknipt-en dit clipping begint hier. In het knippen van Wilders 'politieke vleugels, kunnen we besparen de Nederlandse bevolking uit zichzelf ... we doen het voor hen ook.

De Nederlandse natie opnieuw gebouwd moet worden en dit wordt eerst realiseren dat Nederland niet langer een Europese oriëntatie heeft. Nederland kan een EU-lidstaat zijn, maar het is niet langer een Europese natie (het is meer als een Amerikaanse neocon natie), maar de natie kan en moet worden herbouwd met zijn oude identiteit.
